Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight a hit with staff and customers

Mackenzie & Cruickshank is giving a thumbs up to Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight which kicks off today (Saturday, September 2).

The event is a nationwide celebration which supports and promotes Scotland’s produce, and the people who grow, make, cook and sell it.

Where possible M&C’s shops local and we are delighted to showcase our local and Scottish suppliers in celebration of the event.

Thirza Cruickshank, kitchen manager at M&C said: “Where possible, we always shop local or Scottish. It doesn’t make sense to do anything else. There are hundreds of Scottish suppliers out there producing a huge selection of very high quality goods, so why would we go anywhere else to buy our stock?

“Quality is of the upmost importance to us and from our meats to out teas and coffees, there is a link to local or Scottish companies.”

She added: “Over the years, our customers have become more food savvy and it does make a difference to trade if we can proudly say that we have remained loyal to our Scottish roots and that for the majority of our meals and other kitchen products, we use Scottish suppliers.

“Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight is a great way to celebrate this industry and we hope to continue to bring on more local and Scottish suppliers where possible.”
